Sports Played in South Africa

South Africa has many different sports. The main sports are Rugby and Soccer. They won the Rugby cup in 1995 and in 2007. Soccer is one of the other main sports in South Africa. South Africa has never won a World Cup but for the first time this Nation is hosting the World Cup in 2010. The reason why these sports are so popular are because it dosen't take alot of money or equiment. (e.g for soccer all you need is a ball.) Also you don't use equipment for either of these sports. This is why these are the main sports in South Africa.

Apartheid of South Africa

These are just one of the many examples of the apartheid. Apartheid was the separation of the 3 races, blacks, whites, and coloured. Apartheid started the year of 1948. It gave power to the whites to have all power over coloured people. The coloured people would have to stay in town ships, in the outskirt of a larger town. Blacks and coloured had no power they carried around passbooks to show there identity and if they were caught without these they would either be beaten or put into jail. Whites were always given the higher class these 2 races never interacted. The Apartheid ended 1994 because Nelson Mandela( first freely elected black president of South Africa) declared all races come together, as one.

The 5 Great of South Africa

South Africa has many different animals. But these are the five great animals because it brings a lot of tourism. They are also the great five because they are strong, they are on the top of the food chain. Also because they represent power and independence. But this isn't the only tourist attractions there are also things such as the Kruger National Park, museums, beaches, golf, game reserves, bird and whale watching, and fishing. These animals are some of the features of South Africa.

This is an example of the play pump. The play pump is a device used to get fresh clean water from hundreds of meters deep in the ground. Before the play pumps were created they had to use dirty infected water because they didn't have any places to get the clean water. This system costs about $7000 each but provides safe water for Africans. These are one of the special things in south Africa. It also keeps the kids healthy and active. The play pump works because when the kids spin the huge wheel, the water gets pushed through the piping and goes into a pipe where you collect your clean and healthy water.

South Africa is known for many things such as apartheid, the popularity of HIV and AIDS,and the first apperence of the play-pump. These are just a few of the many things, thats what makes South Africa a really special place. There are many different types of people living in South Africa such as British, African, Dutch, Asians and many different black tribes. South Africa has 11 types of National languages, the population in South Africa is around 48 million people, almost every single person speaks at least one of these languages. These languages are English, Afrikaans, Isilulu, Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana, SiSwati, Tshivenda, IsiNdebele, IsiXhosa and Xitsonga. South Africa is located between the Indian and Atlantic Ocean.
